Explore different styles of photography each week and learn the techniques to get the best photos of landscapes, nature & close-ups, still life, portraiture, candids & people, and action & sports. In this course you will be introduced to photographers who have made an impact in photography and emphasis will be placed on the photographic approach, what camera settings to use, equipment needed and how to optimize your vision. Classes are held via "Zoom" meetings with the same interaction as our in-person classes.

Handout material will be provided to summarize each class.

Week 1 - Landscapes

• Placing the horizon

• Composing using the "Thirds" and patterns
  
• Getting close-ups and "macro" imagery
  
• Photographing Birds & Animals

Week 3 - Still Life

• Defining a 3 dimensional object with light
  
• Bringing out shape, substance, form and texture
  
• Lighting opaque objects
  
• Lighting transparent objects
  

Week 4 - Portraiture

• Using available light in outdoor portraiture
  
• Using "fill" reflectors and flash
  
• Studio approach to lighting
  
• Posing your subject
  

Week 5 - People & Candids

• Approaching subjects to get the shot
  
• How to place your subject in the frame
  
• Using "fill flash"
  
• Photographing events
  

Week 6 - Action & Sports

• Using shutter speed to control motion
  
• How to focus on moving subjects
  
• Exposing for indoor lighting
  
• Shooting sporting events
